Hong Kong isn't in Japan
Town hall of Kolašin, Montenegro. It’s a former Yugoslavian Spomenik (monument) built during Tito’s regime of the 60s and 70s in the former Yugoslavia. Photo by Jan Kempenaers.
Presumably designed by either Bogdan Bogdanović or Gradimir Medaković, it stands out from the other Slavic Monuments as actually being the town hall and community centre of Kolašin, a small town in northern Montenegro.
Resonating with the avant-garde architecture being built in the Soviet Union at the time, the utopia being offered by these architects examplifies what Owen Hatherley has described as ‘nostagia for a time yet to come’.
Interesting project from Berlin.
Dynamische Verbindungen is an interesting project to map (un)safe bike routes in Berlin. A simple but great way to obtain tons of information. HT to berlijn-blog.nl
Here is our result of 3 guys and gals after 4 hours of cleaning on one of the beach in Mei Wo(梅窩).
Recently Hong Kong was hit by a tychoon directly. 6 cargos full of plastic pallet fell to the ocean and all the pallets is now affecting Hong Kong. Many of our citizens organized ourselves up and went to the beach to clean up. The pallets are very small, indistinguishable for filters and there are so many of them. But there are so many of us, this makes me felt hope. Turned out to clean the whole damn beach full of plastic waste. Even a few condoms can be found…
Please, dispose those stuff in proper place after having a great time.
After 123 years of family owned business, Werner Castorf, father of director Frank Castorf, had to close shop. When the wall came down, the formerly successful business of selling blinds lost its customers to product from the West. Castorf used to have an agreement of “freezing” rent in the winter…
Heritage researchers may be excused for losing the plot between dinners at the Mandarin Oriental and partying in Lan Kwai Fong, both favored drinking and dining spots near the central business district. Behind all those luxury malls and the best bottles of Margaux, real life Hong Kong has absolutely nothing to do with a free economy encouraging competition on a level playing field. It’s more like a rigged game.
Hong Kong is the textbook example of Milton Friedman’s free economy. The more money you have, the more power you have. Unfortunately no rich men in the town is batman / iron man.
My friends take on dynamic programming and web development.
